Pura Vida! Medios Ecológicos is a division of the Costa Rican based corporation Fehu Berkana S.R.L. Our focus is directed towards ecological ideas for change. Costa Rica is recognized as one of the most bio-diverse countries on the planet. The national park system of Costa Rica was created more than 35 years ago and today more than 25 percent of Costa Rica's territory has been designated as national park land, biological reserve, wildlife refuge or a wildlife corridor. Worldwide change is called for in these times of ecological instability. The fossil fuel crisis is causing severe spikes in gas prices. At it's record-breaking peak, heating and cooling costs were nearly beyond the reach of the average middle class family. Landfills are quickly approaching capacity. Forests are being cut down at an alarming rate for housing and other needs, jeopardizing our air quality in the process. There is the constant threat of global warming and the pollution of our most important resource, water. This mismanagement of our resources is contributing to delivering our civilization to a post industrial era. Humanity has made brilliant achievements. It is amazing where we are now compared to where we started. From domesticating fire and heavy stone tools to walking on the moon and laser technology. It has been a marvelous journey similar to the Atlantian myth but we all know how that story ended. With our great strides, why are we still using outdated technologies that do not serve our best interest or the planet? We must take responsibility and be conscious of our choices. It is time to discard the teachings that promote waste and destruction in the guise of comfort and "easy living". There are many examples of pro-environmental alternatives and we hope this website will serve as a medium for discovering them. Medios Ecológicos is dedicating itself to promoting viable technologies that enhance your quality of life now and in years to come. It is time we start to transform the way we live our lives.
